At Sacred Bean Coffee we enjoy hosting special events, such as collaborating with other City projects that share a similar ethos and bless our city.
During our barista training days, when we’re teaching our people how to make lattes, flat whites or cappuccinos for example, we can waste a lot of milk and coffee. After all, there’s only so much we can drink in a day. So, we have been known to open up the roaster and give away free coffee to people in the surrounding area and those working around the city centre. There’s usually some chocolate brownies or vegan cakes to accompany, courtesy of our fabulous neighbours Vedy Café and EveOliviaBakes. All we ask for for is a small donation towards our cause; supporting people through life controlling issues.
Prior to Covid 19, and the social restrictions in place, our coffee roasting training workshops would include an open house and community lunch. We love random and not so random guests. However, we ask that you email us to let us know you’re coming. Our workshops can get quite busy and we’d hate you to be disappointed and miss out.
During Covid 19 we’ve been producing Hampers of Hope, in partnership with Derby Food Forum and EveOliviaBakes. These consist of a bag of coffee, a brewing utensil, a small hand carved wooden cross and a little card of encouragement. They are distributed to those who are long term isolated or most vulnerable. A small token of love at this difficult time.
